Disconnect a service

How to revoke a connection, and how to remove anything that was already loaded. Two separate steps, and the second one is the one people forget.

The two steps

Revoking access and removing data are different actions. Doing the first without the second stops anything new from arriving and leaves what already arrived in place.

  1. Revoke access at the provider. This is authoritative. It takes effect immediately and it does not depend on us doing anything.
  2. Remove what was already loaded from your own Financial Brain, if you want it gone.

Step 1. Revoke access

Do this from inside the service itself. Revoking there is immediate and cannot be overridden by us, which is exactly why it is the right place to do it.

QuickBooks Online

Sign in to QuickBooks Online, open Settings (the gear icon), choose Apps or Manage Apps, find Financial Brain in the list of connected apps, and choose Disconnect. Intuit revokes the tokens at that point and no further data can be read.

Google (Drive, Gmail, Calendar)

Go to your Google account permissions page, find the OAuth application you created for your Financial Brain, and remove its access. Because the OAuth client belongs to your own Google Cloud project, you can also delete the client outright, which revokes every token issued by it.

Anything else

The same principle holds for any service: revoke in the provider’s own security or connected-apps settings. If you cannot find it, email us and we will tell you exactly where it is for that provider.

Step 2. Remove what was already loaded

Your data is in your own cloud account, not ours. A Financial Brain runs inside a Cloudflare account you created and own. The documents, the database and the search index are yours. That means removal is something you control, and it also means we cannot do it silently.

Two ways to remove it:

  • Delete the whole installation. In your own Cloudflare dashboard, delete the Worker, its D1 database and its Vectorize index. Nothing survives that, and you do not need us present to do it.
  • Remove one source and keep the rest. This is more surgical than the dashboard makes it look. Email us and we will walk you through it on a call, or do it with you.

Ask us to handle it

Email james@financialbrain.ai with the service you want disconnected. We will confirm what was removed, in writing, within one business day.

You do not need a reason and we will not ask for one. If you would rather we were not involved at all, step 1 plus deleting the installation achieves the same result without us.

What happens to our own records

Separately from your installation, we hold the ordinary record of an engagement: intake answers and notes, a copy of your manifest with no secrets in it, and the email and message history between us. You can ask us to delete that too, and we confirm in writing within one business day.

See Privacy for what this website collects, which is a separate and much smaller question.
